I was born and brought up in a traditional family of Brahmins of Bhubaneswar in the state of Odisha.
Learned and Trained in the ancient traditional way, under the umbrella of Jyotisha parampara (or Vedic lineage) of Shri Jagan nath Temple Puri, that was kept this knowledge pure and sacred for over 500 years since the time of Shri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu and his enlightened Jyotishi Shri Achutananda.
From 2008 onwards my journey continued to mastering this secret science under the guidance of my Gurus and with their blessings I m always ready to guide other souls. We traditionally are priests and worshippers of Sri Lingaraj Temple at Bhubaneswar, Odisha.
My spiritual studies started in childhood. My maternal grandfather Shri Jai Krishna Mohapatra was a High School teacher and a very good scholar in Sanskrit and Oriya language. He basically built my foundation in spirituality at a very tender age. Like all elders in the family, he and my maternal grandmother took Diksha from Sitaram Omkar Nath Ashram Math, Puri, at very early stage in life. Their close association with the Math, ashramas and temples built my spiritual foundation at very tender age. Having been born and brought up in such an environment, in the loving and watchful care of my grandparents, I become well versed in puja rituals, different shastras, puranas and other spiritual practices.
My family also comes from a lineage of Vedic Astrologers and naturally my learning also began in childhood. My father Sri Khirod Chandra Mohapatra is an excellent astrologer. He learnt astrology from his Guru, Pandit Bhagwan Mishra from Puri, who was a very well-known astrologer of his era. Known for his precise predictions and in-depth knowledge of tantras.
People visited my house daily to have their charts cast and interpreted. I usually just sat quietly and listened, as my study was close to the drawing room where all the discussions took place. This was my daily routine, from childhood to the age of about nineteen when I left my family home to pursue higher education.
During these early years I learnt astrological fundamentals, formulas, dasas, spiritual content and the application thereof as described in various shastras. I gained in depth knowledge about mantras, yantras and tantras. I learnt how to deal with difficult situations and prescribe various remedies by taking into account the movement of the planets and their relationship to the natal chart.
Later when I came to Faridabad (Delhi NCR) during my higher studies, I became the chief priest at the Jagannath temple in Faridabad. There is a well-known saying in Oriya “ chinha brahmana ra paita darkar nahin” “ଚିନହାବ୍ରାହମନରପୈତାଦର୍କାରନIହିନ” meaning “ For a well-known Brahmin, there is no need of a sacred thread to be recognized as a Brahmin”.
People knowing my family background, started asking me questions about astrology. Very soon they were queuing up for remedies relating to problems they were experiencing in life. This became the turning point in my life. My thirst for more knowledge increased and I started reading more and more on the subject passionately. I studied many classic and modern work, as well as learning about different schools of thought. Apart from Dr B.V. Raman’s books, I studied classics texts such as Jataka Tatwam, Brihat Samhita, Saravali, Phala deepika etc. However, all these teaching still could not quench my thirst.
Later I became a graduate in Computer Science and worked in the teaching faculty in DAV College. However this path brought no satisfaction. Day by day my thirst for Jyotish knowledge grew and eventually it brought me to the doorstep of my Gurudev Shri Sanjay Rath. He accepted me as his sishya and initiated me into the parampara mantra, under the umbrella of Shri Achyuta parampara lineage.
At the feet of my Gurus, Smt. Sarbani Rath, Smt Lakshmi Ramesh and Shri Ajay Zharotia, qualified scolars under the guidance and auspicious teachings of my Gurudev Shri Sanjay Rath, I learnt the knowledge of the ancient seers in the form of Jaimini Maharshi’s Upadesha Sutras and trained in the ancient traditional way of the parampara. Later at the feet of my Gurudev Shri Sanjay Rath, I have learnt Brihat Paarashara Hora Shastra.
From 2008 onwards, my journey continued, learning and practicing Jyotish under the guidance of my Gurus and with their blessings I am always ready to guide other souls.
